As a San Francisco maternity photographer, I find great joy in documenting the journey of my clients through various stages of their lives. Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to reconnect with C & S, a couple whose engagement photos I took back in 2021. They reached out with the exciting news that they are now expecting their first baby! I couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of this new chapter in their lives. Working with past clients always brings a special kind of joy, and C & S are no exception. They are the sweetest couple and I have no doubt that they are going to be the most amazing parents.
For their maternity session, we chose Bernal Heights Park, a location that holds special meaning for C & S. This park offers stunning panoramic views of San Francisco, a city that plays a significant role in their love story as it is where they first met. The choice of location was perfect, symbolizing both the beauty of their past and the bright future ahead with their new addition.
The day of the shoot was quite interesting. The weather in San Francisco can be unpredictable, and that day was no different. It was windy, yet somehow, there were warm gusts of wind that kept us comfortable. Despite the breezy conditions, C was a glowing mama-to-be, radiating joy and anticipation. The combination of her happiness and the breathtaking scenery made for some truly memorable photos.
As we made our way to the top of the hill, the panoramic view of San Francisco unfolded before us. The city skyline, framed by the natural beauty of the park, provided a stunning backdrop for the photos. The golden hour light added a magical touch, casting a warm glow over C & S as they stood together, looking out over the city that means so much to them. It was a picture-perfect moment that beautifully encapsulated their journey and the new adventure they are about to embark on.
Throughout the session, we took breaks to ensure C was comfortable, giving us a chance to chat and catch up on life since their engagement session. They shared their hopes and dreams for their baby, their excitement about becoming parents, and the preparations they have been making. One particularly touching story they shared was about how C forgot the ultrasound images at home when they were already on the way to the shoot. S, showing his patience and support, drove back to get them. This story highlighted S’s supportive nature and how he has been there for C throughout this journey. These conversations added a personal touch to the session, making it even more meaningful. It’s always a special experience to witness the growth and evolution of my clients’ lives and relationships.
As the session drew to a close, we made our way back down the hill, stopping for a few final shots with the city skyline in the background. The sun was beginning to set, casting a soft, golden light over the park. It was the perfect end to a wonderful day, and I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to capture these precious moments for C & S.
Reflecting on the session, I’m reminded of the importance of capturing life’s milestones and the beauty of seeing past clients grow and evolve. C & S’s maternity session at Bernal Heights Park was a testament to their love story and the new chapter they are about to begin. I’m so excited for them and can’t wait to see them become parents.
